My Happiness part 2 – By Sant Eketarinande Maharaj from Atma Malik Dhyanpeeth India

My Happiness…. Simple, just realize it. It’s always been with you.
You are That! Yes, you are by your true nature (Atma), pure divine bliss and happiness. Perhaps here, a short episode from the tales of the Buddha, may help shed some light. A lady once approached the Buddha and asked, “I want happiness”. The Buddha said of course, but first from your statement of “I want happiness”, remove the “I”, which is the Ego. Then remove the “want”, which is Desire, and what remains then, is what you are. A message of great spiritual significance. Being innately happy beings, why do we still “seek” happiness? Sadly, the simple one word answer is Ignorance (Avidya). Man generally lives in a maya world of illusions where the Truth is often merely obscured and ‘buried’, but yet, ever present, and waiting to be realised! All one has to do is to merely “silence” the Ego and Desires, and start turning inwards, by way of introspection (pratihara and dharana) Atma dhyan and along the path towards realisation, one may be subject to disruptive tendencies (vasanas), which one will have to overcome. Here the tenfold sins are made up of the three physical tendencies which are injury to life, adulterous desires and theft; the four verbal sins which are false alarms, cruel speech, jealous talk and lies; and three mental attitudes which are greed, envy and denial of God. By successfully keeping these “sins” at bay, and by silencing the ego and desires, a person on the spiritual path of being in atma chintan and dhyan, will soon be nothing less than a pure and divine blissful being. So, who wants real happiness and bliss and attains it? It’s the same person who desires God-Atma, as simple as ABC.
